I See Opportunities Everywhere
Fresh out of a consultation with the hematologist at VGH regarding the blood clot. A fellow examined me first. I like fellows; they’re knowledgeable, thorough, and haven't yet reached the "jaded" stage of veteran specialists. The attending physician followed, radiating warmth and confidence.
The plan: an ultrasound for my legs, the birthplace of the clot that eventually shattered and drifted like tiny, unwanted icebergs into the breezier, more scenic regions of my lungs. I’ll remain on the current dose of blood thinners until our three-month follow-up.I find myself weighing the options: dying from a sudden, vessel-blocking clot, or the slow burn of cancer. Which is quicker? Less painful? I try to stay optimistic. I see opportunities everywhere.
